| B. Kirby06-27-05, 09:31 AM | My DM is asking for our opinions on a couple of the optional rules and I was wondering if someone out there could summarize or give me the gist of these variants. My DM wants us to know about Bloodlines, Paragons, Various Class Varients, Generic Classes, Complex Skill Checks, Character Traits, Character Flaws, Weapon Groups, Armour as Damage Reduction, Injury, Reserve Points, Players Roll all the Dice, Magic Rating, Spell Points, Contacts, Reputation, and Sanity. My DM is currently in Oregon for the summer and has the copy of Complete Arcana so anything anyone can share would be appreciated. |

Spell Points/Action Points: Check out the link in my sig, then go to the Core class page to see how I made these two dovetail with Psionic Power points. 3. Contacts: Good stuff. :) the rest on your list I do not use, and others will be better at pointing out their relative strengths/weaknesses. |

Racial paragons is like a mini-prestige class for each race. Fine for low level characters, but high level characters usually want class abilities instead, so they went unused in my campaign. Character Traits and character flaws are great as flavor again. I don't use character flaws because it is far too easy to abuse. Character traits are less likely to be abused. Flaws let you gain a free feat for taking some weakness. Traits are a benefit/weakness combo- you pick a trait which gives you a weakness and a benefit which go together. Players roll all the dice is no big deal. You roll the dice for anything attacking you. Add your roll and your AC. If it is less than the opponent's to hit bonus, you are hit. A little unnecessary IMHO. I can't really comment on the rest as I haven't seriously considered their use. |
