I've been working on a more in-depth version of crafting (and alchemy), where you can get better stuff through better masterworking. My question is this: if an item (lets say a longsword, base cost 15gp), + masterworking it (300 more gp). That could take an adventurer with a high int, and a good amount of ranks in craft, about a week just for the sword. The masterworking, quite a bit longer. Now, focusing on a setting where magic isn't as prevalent (there's still magic users, though they are somewhat less common, but magic items are gonna be a pain to find, past simple +1s, +2s, etc.), would it be too over-powered to say that the crafting check is an eight hour period, no interruptions, on just 1 day, instead of 1 week? I don't think it will be too bad, but I'm wondering what other people have to say on the matter. |

It assigns craft times in addition to craft DCs for objects, and you simply make a flat craft DC to see if you waste the time (and possibly materials) or succeed. |
