| yeti02-22-05, 01:17 PM | I was introducing the Death and Dying system from UA in my campaign, but one of my player's had chosen the Diehard feat. If i use the feat and the system without some alteration, this will make him nearly immortal. He won't fail his save so miserable to die instantly, and if reduced to a dying state, he will still be able to act. This is even more a of a problem with the Ferocity SQ as used by the boar. I would by thankful for any ideas. |

Normally you are dying and unable to act. If you are dying, you have to make a save every round or die - and that's die if you fail the save by 1 (or a natural 1), not by 5 or 10. Further, every round the save DC goes up by 1. As an additional rule, you can rule that if a character gets hit while they are in the dying state, the total damage they've taken while in the dying state determines the save DC, not just the damage from the last hit. |

Actually, Diehard makes it so you automatically stabalize when you are dying. Also, the round you enter the dying state, you can choose to be disabled. So, someone with Diehard would not have to save every round or die, they'd simply have to wait for themselves to fail their save by 10 in order to die. I've been petitioning the boards for months now to take this issue under our collective wing and see if we can work on it together. |
