I'm a lazy writer, so I keep it short (none-native, so learn to live with my mistakes).
I'm going to use the following houserules in my upcoming campaign
to create the cinematic heroes my players and I like:

Characters do not gain ...
1) the standard level feats
2) the ability point on every 4th level
3) a prestige class

Straight one-class characters gain ...
1) abilities by point buy
2) one feat every level which can be used for ...
a) the doubling of skillpoints on that level
b) to increase one ability by 1²
c) to gain a feat

² this is limited by the characters base saves;
for each 2 points of base save the player can spend one point per group;
the groups are ...
1) Fortitude, increase either Str or Con
2) Reflex, increase either Int or Dex*
3) Will, increase either Wis or Cha

* tying Int to Reflex is bad for the wizards,
it forces him to buy a high Int in advance,
which will keep the other abilities reasonably low
and prevents Int-monsters;

Demi-Gestalt / multiclass characters gain ...
1) average BAB, HP, skillpoints and saves of both classes
2) class abilities following this pattern -> A, B, AB, A, B, AB³
3) a level feat on every A or B level (use s.a.)

³ the maximum skill ranks a character might have in a skill
are class level (not character level) +3 if it's on one list
and character level +3 if it's on both lists;
cross-class skills are class-level +1;

---

We used it to create the following characters,
which look good on paper
(let's see how they work out at the table at mid- to high-level play) ...
1) straight wild-elf druid
2) straight human rogue
3) demi-gestalt human barbarian/knight
4) demi-gestalt half-elf ranger/bard

---

So, now I'm interested in your thoughts and ideas.
