Hey all, in character creation I ran into a little problem with my Cloistered Cleric/Artificer. Namely, I wanted to pick changeling as a race instead of human. My DM already deemed taking Able Learner as a changeling acceptable (as they are half-human half-doppleganger) and everything seemed to be going good. I felt Changeling fit my concept better than a human would, sort of a 'wanderer' archetype.

Anyway, I ran into a problem. Favored class: Rogue. After cursing for about 10 minutes, I tried to think of a solution. I didn't want to lose my level of cloistered cleric for anything, but I also have my heart set on changeling. So, I thought why not turn to character traits?

I have an idea for a character trait called Diverse that I want to pitch to the DM, which gives you a second favored class, but I can't think of a drawback, so I'm requesting help.

Also, I recall seeing a new character traits thread a long while back, is that still around? I'd like to thumb through it.

This may be what your looking for. It may not be. But if its a trait then I think this is the only fair thing.

Diverse Charater
Benifit: You may may multiclass without experience penalties.
Drawback: You recieve -10% experience at all times, starting at and including level 1.
Special: Humans recieve only -5% experience from this trait due to their naturally diverse nature.

The xp loss is the only thing I could think of that would balance out something that strong.

Another option may be to just try and keep the levels close together.
