| Gaia04-22-06, 01:08 PM | I really think that spells whose damage rely on a dice number are REALLY underpowered with the Spell Points System. I mean, why would someone choose these spells, since they are the only ones affected by that system? Also, this class completely underpowers the Warmage class, from Complete Arcane. Would eliminating this rule be broken? IMO, the reduced number of spells per day from the Spells Per Day System to the Spell Points System seems good enough for balance. What do you think? |
| Nightwhisper04-23-06, 03:25 AM | Well, if you make that change, you get the very wierd situation where everybody rarely uses their highest-level spells for damage since it isn't MP-effective. Or in other words: what's the point of casting that fifth-level damage spell when you're 10th level and fireball does the same damage for half the MP. This comes up the most around levels three to ten, I think, but it is evident up through 20th. This isn't as much a problem with the damage spells, but with other spells not being so well adjusted to the MP system. If you want to make changes to the MP system, I suggest you start adapting the other spells so they jive better with MP instead of making damage spells jive worse with it. |
