This is the EXECT info I am going to give the players, I allways give them full info on house rules as they are very good about role-playing and player/character knowladge walls.

Ok, after the clerics brush with the following monster:

A large canine of some sort is in this room, at first glance it appears dead, its right side withered or mumified, and its left full of maggots, however a closer inspection reveals it to be breathing...

I introduced (preliferally) a new element in my world, the three essential Evils and three essential Goods. Each evil/good affects only the mind/body/soul. For future referance each of the three knids of magic is also linked to mind/body/soul, but far more losley. There is a table below (and yes, it was the answer to the puzzle lock).

Part Mind Body Soul
Good Knowladge Charity Enlightenment
Evil The chamberlin Pain Drift (aka the great dispare)
Magic Psionics Arcane Divine

(The chamberin is robbing others of independant will.)

It is about Drift I am typing. It reprisents the slow errosion of the soul (or not so slow). Every creature starts with a drift score of 100. When it hits 0 your soul is destroyed (NOT GOOD). Sources of Drift include (but are not limited to)...

Acts of horrendous evil (1)
Vile damdge (a third rounded up but tracked. The cleric took 1 point (1/3, so 1) if he had taken another it would still have been 1 (2/3). Damadge from differant scorses is tracked speratly).
Losing a character level (other than by returning to life) (2).
Using an xp component (Will save = 10+(1.5x spell level) or spells level in Drift for every 1000).
Crafting a magic item (Will save = 10+10% of xp spent/days spent or 1 point per CL of item)
Spending time in the grey wastes or the plane of negative energy. (special)
As part of a pact with an outsider. (special)
Drain on mental ability scores. (2xamount drained)

Drift has the folloing base effect, whenever a cure/inflict/harm/heal/restoration/level drain/ability drain/poison (spell only)/contageon/blindness/defness/remove blindness deafness/remove poison/remove disease, or other simmilar things are targeted at you a d100 is rolled. If it goes over your drift (immpossible unless you have taken damdge) the spell has no effect at all. Characters with the healing domain/spell focus necromacy/death domain can add 1/3 of their caster level to this (you can claim all three, in theory...).

In adition when your drift score reaches certain values, you gain benefits and penalties.

90 +1 vs fear and spells that target the soul (inc death effects) -2 on bluff, sence motive, diplomacy and gather info.
80 +2 vs fear and spells that target the soul (inc death effects) -6 on bluff, sence motive, diplomacy and gather info.
70 Immune to death effects. All divine healing now only heals to 1/2 the normal effect.
60 Immune to all enotion based effects and insnaity of any kind. Can no longer use Divine magic, treated as undead by all divine spells(note, spells only) exept cure/heal/inflict/harm.
50 DR 5/good and silver. Can no longer use Psionics.
45 DR 6/good and silver. Gain only 1/2 con mod bonus hp per level (retroactive, penalties still apply).
40 DR 7/good and silver. Register as undead/treated as undead by all magic exept cure/heal/inflict/harm.
35 SR 15+hd, cannot be lowered.
30 DR 8/good and silver. Cure and inflict spells no longer work AT ALL.
25 DR 9/good and silver. No spells with the healing descriptor work on you, EVEN ONE BIT.
20 DR10/good and silver. Take TRIPPLE damadge from incoporeal undead and double from regular undead.
15 DR10/-. You gain no bonus hp from con (penaties also vanish)
10 Immune to all poisons, diseases and other simmilar effects. Heal hd less hp every night.
5 +15 natural armour, DR 15/-, can be turned and rebuked as undead.
0 Soul destryed. Body re-animates an a Necroplopian with an AL of CE, but has no soul. Oops.

You can heal the damadge with the following, if you claim no other bonuses:
Restoration: Heals d2 drift.
Injesting holy water: Heals 8d4. ONCE ONLY.
Greater restoration: Heals 3d4 drift.
Heal: Heals 3d4 drift.
Heal mass (targeted at one person only): Heals 3d12 drift.
Limited wish+Bend reality: Heals 3d4 drift.
Wish: Heals 2 points per caster level.
Miracle (as greater request) and Reality revision: Heals all drift.
Extended stays in areas of positive dominance: Varies.

Nothing can restore a Drift of 0. Not even the great Mortrex and Matana themselves. GAME OVER PUNK.

Acts of horrendous evil are only 1 drift? Kinda odd I think. maybe 0 for minor evil, 2 for major evil, and 6 for horrendous evil. minor being on the level of theft, major being murdering a helpless person in cold blood, and horrendous something like genocide

so... there can be no really evil people who use psionics or no evil clerics... I'd remove that. Also, maybe you have healing spells that you cast get weaker as you drift more, while inflict are more powerful.

Injesting holy water: Heals 8d4. ONCE ONLY.

seems kinda odd that holy water is more powerful than a consentrated mass heal, bend reality, lesser wish, and almost as strong as a wish.

How bout 1d4 once per month.

overall, a good idea that needs more polish.

overall, a good idea that needs more polish.
And a heavy spellcheck.

This is the exact info, soon to be implemented, there's only one P in triple, only one D in damage, and I have no idea what "preliferally" is supposed to mean.

There's a lot. Spellcheck, please. For the children.

It's a very interesting idea, but I think you will get players deliberately causing their own drift to get some of those bonuses.

I second the motion for a spellcheck. The sloppy typing and poor spelling made me stop reading this a few sentences in to it. It sounds like an interesting idea, but I'll never really know; it's too much effort to try to reassemble the ideas presented from the fractured sentences with which they have been delivered.
