| Koga:The ninja trick03-15-06, 07:19 PM | People complain about the brokeness of alot of classes, or how they are not balanced with one another. Well, using some new dice, (dice that technichaly don't exsist unless you have a PC dice-generator..) and whole bunchof small house-rules, The Koga has made the game balanced. (Albeit challenging) to the player! We take the weakest classes, round them up, and use only them. Here's the example: Fighters/Thugs (From Unearthed Arcana.) Everybody says they're too generic and feats get useless quickly, well, they'll have to learn how to depend on those feats, cause that's all they're getting, but because The Koga thinks games overuse d6 and d10, they're not abroad anymore, so instead, they have hit die d12, also exotic/firearms profficetcy. Aristocrats: They're practicaly a PC class, just give them a new name like soldier or warrior or something, slap a couple of bonus feats, (Perhaps the amount that the 3.5 psi warrior has, on that note, they're restricted to the fighter's only list too) and click-click boom, you got yourself a PC class! Swashbuckler: The Koga only once heard of the swashbuckler, he's sure he could get a friend to remind him, (and it's a cool concept, pirates rock!) so the hit die becomes d8, and they gain sneak attack like a rogue. (As from what he does remember by 3rd level you may as well switch classes.) Rangers: Much like 3.5, there is an archer and duel-wielding ranger, however, we take the 3.0 ranger and his varaint the hyborian ranger. http://hyboria.xoth.net/prestige-classes/hyborian_ranger.htm and convert them into 3.5 via differant skills and such, the 3.0 "traditionall" ranger loses spells, but gains the two-weapon fighting feat tree when a 3.5 would, they both have thier hd lowerd to d8, they both gain firearms profficetcy, (The Koga likes to implement guns into his games..) so now they're about even, but to stay equal to the melee characters such as fighter, they choose a "fighting discipline" as 3.5, but not duel-wielding or archery as that is chosen which ranger path of hyboria or traditional they take at 1st level, there are numerous fighting styles as seen in Dra@gon that they can take, or alternatively, they can take "hexslinger" fighting style, and gain spellcasting abilities as a normal ranger would. Bard: As 3.0 but with 3.5 skill-list, but so people don't abuse it as 3.0, you cannot multiclass into a bard, or multiclass once you are a bard. (Though you may still take prestige classes, assuming you allow them which The Koga doesn't.) Also thier hit die is decreased to d5. (Good example of the new "unreal" die.) Sorcerer: Nothing needs to change obviously. But for flavour reasons, giving the sorcerer intimidate as a class skill. Favoured Soul: Sense The Favoured Soul completely pwns the sorcerer, her hit die will be lowerd to d3, thereby making the sorcerer a tad better at gaining HP even though hardly noticable. (Again, unreal dice, but makes for good balance..) Also just to even the odds, a favoured soul has to prepare her spells in advance. (Thereby making her the only spell-preparing class.) 3.0 Psion/Psi Warrior/3.5 Soulknife: Obviously, nothing needs to change, however, again, to ween people off d10 and d6, soulknives now have hit die d8, but gain all good saving throws. It's a longshot, but give feedback, The Koga purposely wants to try and make the game more deadly for the player, like a good PC game such as Diablo, it's a little more higher in magick then The Koga cared for, but considering the restriction to spells/powers known, the terribly weak hit die (or the grueling effort of maximizing your prefered discipline if you're familiar with 3.0 psionics..) it evens out.. As for a barbarian, the barbarian was far better then any of the listed classes, so The Koga's working on rage becoming a feat-tree for fighters and such if they want to make a beserker type character.. |

| IceFractal03-20-06, 03:36 AM | These changes seem frankly a bit bizarre. When did the Aristocrat become a fighting class? And yes, the Favored Soul seems rather ridiculously pathetic now. I think everyone would probably play a Swashbuckler. Also: pirates rock! A ninja advertising the greatness of pirates?! You have dishonored your ancestors! You must commit seppuku! With a frisbee! :P |
| FriendlyBiscuit03-20-06, 04:44 AM | These changes seem frankly a bit bizarre. The Koga is fond of talking about himself in the third person, and frequently spouts really out-there ideas. Oh, and he's very generous with the nerf bat. *shrug* It's his style, and he's definitely a board regular that's here to stay. Get used it to it, and learn to love nutjob/Koga. :D Is The Koga currently playing in any groups? And if so, is he the DM or a player? |
