I don't know if this has been asked before so my apologies in advance.

In the description for the Dwarven Paragon for the crafting expertise, it says you can add your class levels as a racial bonus to all craft checks using stone or metal.

My confusion is that are they referring to Dwarven Paragon levels, or are they referring to your other class levels not including Dwarven paragon, or do they mean ALL class levels?

My first assumption was that it meant all class levels that were not dwarven paragon levels, because even though dwarven paragon is a class, i treat it as an extension of the race...kinda like buying up racial LA with racial class levels.

If anyone has any input, clarification, or anything that might help, it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

when it says class levels, they mean from the class that give the ability

when it says character levels, they mean all you class levels in all your classes

So, in this case, its the paragon class levels

Ok...so if that's the case. Dwarves receive a +4 racial bonus when crafting using stone or metal already. If i can add my dwarven paragon class levels as a racial bonus to stone or metal, wouldn't i just keep the +4 i get already, or am i to assume that the racial bonuses in this case stack?

I thought unnamed, and dodge bonuses only stacked with themselves...

Dwarves only get a +2 racial bonus when crafting with metal or stone already, not a +4.

Character Level: The total level of the character, which is the sum of all class levels held by that character.
Class Level: The level of a character in a particular class. For a character with levels in only one class, class level and character level are the same.

So, I know that the Craft Expertise ability of a dwarf paragon is based only on paragon class levels.

Ok, so after looking at the rest of the paragon classes, I think the wording of the dwarf paragon Craft Expertise ability is wrong. All of the other paragons increase the bonus to things (such as the dwarves improved stonecunning, the elves elfsight, etc.). Since I cant seem to find any errata or anything for UA, I don't know the offical answer to this question.

However, from now on, in my campaign, the Craft Expertise ability will now read like this:

Craft Expertise (EX): A dwarf paragons racial bonus on craft checks with metal or stone increases by the dwarf paragons class level.

My apologies...i miss-typed. The bonus is a +2.

So, if i am to understand this correctly, if i were to take all 3 levels in dwarven paragon, that should increase my racial bonus to craft when using stone or metal to a +5...

At least that seems more inline with the other paragons...

Thanks a lot...

Thats the way I'm gonna do it, and I think it's the way Wizards meant to do it too.
