| MJ the Prophet10-02-05, 09:31 AM | Ok, I'm designing a villain, a necromancer to be specific, and he has the Enhanced Undead necromancer variant from UA as well as the Corpsecrafter feat from LM. Now the +2 hp per HD appears to stack just fine; it's an unnamed bonus. However, both provide a +4 enhancement bonus to Str. At the moment, I'm not having them stack, but should I? They're both enhancement bonuses from separate sources in a way, but they don't get applied until the moment the undead is created, so they're simultaneous. Granted, I'm the DM; if I want them to stack, they stack. I get the feeling I'll decide based on how fast my characters kill my monsters. I'm just asking how others would rule it. |
| Bill Bisco: Average Adventurer10-02-05, 11:50 AM | I'd have them stack. I like powerful undead. Skeletons and Zombies are waaaaay weak. |
| MJ the Prophet10-02-05, 05:31 PM | That's what they'll be facing, of course. Even without stacking, though, the zombies are Str 16, Dex 12, and have 24 HP. With a 20 Str, I'm not sure they'll be within kill range for the PCs. Of course, we'll have to see. |
| fnord10-02-05, 10:28 PM | By RAW, they don't stack. It doesn't matter when enhancement bonuses are applied, they don't stack. If you have clever PCs, or your party is level 10+, by all means let them stack, especially for zombies. Strength 16 or 20 or 40, it won't matter if the PCs stay out of reach or the cleric can blast them out of existance. I'd still stick with RAW, because I don't see a reason to change the rules here. If I wanted to give the BBEG control of undead more powerful than skeletons or zombies, I'd just give him some ghouls, or ghasts, or morhgs, or wights, or mummies, or whathaveyou. |
