| DragonWatcher02-21-04, 02:34 PM | I don't have the book in front of me at the moment, so I am going off of memory. As this is the case, forgive me if I am mistaken here. I believe that the Exotic Weapon Group states that when you take it, the effects are that you are proficient with all exotic weapons that belong to any other weapon group that you possess. This applies to both groups that you already possess, as well as groups that you might get in the future. Okay, now, as I said, that is what I remember reading. However, even if this is not the case, it still makes sense to me for it to work this way. I never agreed with having to take a seperate feat for each exotic weapon that you wanted to be able to use. As many people have stated on different posts, being proficient with more weapons make a character more versatile, not necessarily more powerful. To me, if you are going to be using weapon groups (which in itself makes more sense to me than the way weapon proficiencies are done in the standard rules), the Exotic Weapon Group simply gives the character the understanding on how to make use of the slightly more complex versions of weapons that they can already use. Anyhow, that's just my two coppers, and I'm sure that there are others out there who might disagree with this. |

There are only two exotic weapon groups; exotic weapons and exotic double weapons. Take either one of them and you are set with all exotic weapons of a group you already have. In FACT... it seems that you can drop Weapon Focus, Exotic weapons onto your character sheet and have the +1 for every exotic weapon group that you have a weapon focus for the standard group. This set up is great. It encourages specialization without making you blow too many multiple feats. |

I think if you have WepProf and WepFoc (Heavy Sword) it applies to Bastard Sword (two handed). If you also have WepProf (Exotic) it also applies to 1 handed. I'm not sure though. I just glanced through the book. |

Heavy Blades applies to 2-h bastard swords and Exotic Weapons applies to 1-h bastard swords if you already have heavy blades. Depending on the GM you may have to take WF-Heavy Blades and WF- Exotic to have WF apply to both uses. I might rule that if a weapon appears on both the exotic group and the standard weapon group, taking WF or WS once will apply to both versions of that weapon only. Something like that anyway. |
