I'm in a gestalt campaign as a bard/paladin of freedom, so I', CG. I was looking closley on how to become an ex-paladin. If you commit a willing act of evil you lose everything! That was kinda ticking me off to a point, however reading a bit further I have noticed that if you progress in levels other than paladin you become an ex-paladin but retain all abilities. So if I were to ditch the Paladin of Freedom levels and progress as a bard/Dirgesinger I can keep my Paladin abilities and raise dead(eventualy)! This is the best loop hole I've found. What do you think about it? You can do whatever you want and still keep Paladin abilities so long as you progress in another class that does not allow you to progress in Paladin levels again.

A paladin who ceases to be good, who willfully commits an evil act, or who grossly violates the code of conduct loses all paladin spells and abilities (including the service of the paladin’s mount, but not weapon, armor, and shield proficiencies). She may not progress any farther in levels as a paladin. She regains her abilities and advancement potential if she atones for her violations (see the [I]atonement spell description), as appropriate.
Like a member of any other class, a paladin may be a multiclass character, but multiclass paladins face a special restriction. A paladin who gains a level in any class other than paladin may never again raise her paladin level, though she retains all her paladin abilities.

You only lose your paladin abilities if you do something evil. You can stop taking paladin levels whenever you want and not lose anything, just don't be evil.

If your DM has an IQ over 80 he will say no.

Remember just because you can twist rules, doesn't mean that someone else (the DM) might not step in and tell you not to be a munchkin.

If i we're your DM i would allow you to go out of paladin (of course) but if you so something evil, you would lose ability's.

And, I imagine that your DM would do the same.
