I have posted this concept on another board, but I belive this is the proper board for this idea. So does this concept seem workable?

Advanced Skills

Advanced skills represent a characters exceptional development in selected areas. Unlike standard skills, you do not make skill rolls, nor do you add your ability score modifiers to the effect of the skill. Instead a rank in an Advanced Skill provides the character with a competence bonus to a particular skill, ability, or action.

Advanced Skill Prerequisites – Prerequisite Overview
1. Character has the Advanced Skill Feat
2. Minum character level needed to access Advanced Skills = 5th level or higher
3. 8+ ranks in 2 or more specific skills or minimum ability score and attribute level (such as STR 14+ BAB 5+)
4. 1 or more feats as defined by the skill prerequisites.

Special
Only skill points gained as result of a level gain in a core class [Any nonprestige class] can be used to gain ranks in a particular advanced skill.

Gaining Ranks in Advanced Skills
A character’s number of ranks in a Advanced Skill is based on how many skill points a character has invested in the skill. Each skill point you spend on a Advanced Skill gets your character 1/2 rank in that skill. A characters maximum number of ranks in a Advanced Skill is equal to the character level +3 then divided by 2. (ignore fractions)

Advanced Skill Feat
Prerequisite: None

Benefit: The Advanced Skill feat allows a character to allocate skill points to Advanced Skills. This feat can only be taken once, but once you take this feat, you can allocate skill points to any and all Advanced skills, provided the character meets all the other prerequisite required to access the skill.
