I am developing a list of houserules for the next game I DM and I have been toying with the idea of allowing any extra ordinary abilites found in any class or prestige class can be taken as a feat.

Of course I would require they meet level requirements by adding prestige class + class level that it is available.

My biggest concern is the barbarian rage ability and evasion.

How does this sound? Is it stealing from other classes or more freedom for players?

I've considered the same idea. Some of them aren't appropriate, really, but stuff like evasion, traps, uncanny dodge, I could see them as feats. Rage I'm not so sure about.

List of PHB Ex abilities and whether or not I think they should be allowed:
Barbarian
Fast movement: Yes, but require Dash first, unless you're not using CW.
Rage: No. If you did, it'd require LOADS of feats to get to any decent ability.
Uncanny Dodge: Yes
Trap Sense: Yes
Improved Uncanny Dodge: Yes
Damage Reduction: They already do, in multiple ways.
Bard
Bardic Knowledge (Not Really ex, but it's not sp or su either): No.
Cleric
Clerics have no ex abilities.
Druid
Animal Companion: That's what the Wild Cohort feat is for.
Nature Sense: There's loads of feats just like this. Yes.
Wild Empathy: That's an iffy one...I suppose yes, but it would require the Nature Sense feat and Animal Affinity.
Woodland Stride: Yes.
Trackless Step: Yes.
Resist Nature's Lure: No.
Venom Immunity: They do. In epic levels.
Timeless Body: No.
Fighters
Fighters just get feats.....
Monk
AC Bonus: Maybe. Would take work to figure out how to implement such a feat.
Flurry of Blows: No. Stick with TWF.
Evasion: Yes.
Fast Movement: No. Stick with the barb's, or make the feat for that stackable.
Still mind: Yes.
Slow Fall: No.
Purity of Body: Heck no.
Improved Evasion: Yes.
Diamond Soul: I think they might somewhere. If not, I'm not really sure.
Timeless body: No.
Tongue of the Sun and Moon: No.
Paladin
Aura of Good: Sure. Makes for a great flavor feat. Might want to add some in game benefit.
Divine Health: no.
Ranger
Favored Enemy: I really don't see why not. Remember, additional favored enemies past first requires additional feat.
Wild Empathy: Been through this.
Animal Companion: Already Wild Cohort feat.
Woodland Stride: Did this already.
Swift Tracker: Yes.
Camouflage: Not really sure.
Hide in Plain Sight: As above.
Rogue
Sneak Attack: (This is an ex to me.) Yes. Obviously, it wouldn't scale and would be a stackable feat.
Trapfinding: Sure.
Evasion: Did this.
Trap Sense: Did this.
Uncanny Dodge: Did this.
Improved Uncanny Dodge: Did this.
Crippling Strike: No.
Defensive Roll: No.
Improved Evasion: Did this.
Opportunist: No.
Skill Mastery: I've already made this a feat in my campaign, though it's Int mod only (minimum 1), so as not to step on the rogue's toes too much.
Slippery Mind: Um...How about....No.
Sorcerer
Doesn't have any.
Wizard
See above.

im all for adding more feats but not to the point of removeing major class features from being unique.

That is my only real problem with making them into feats. Some of them make sense and some of them don't. Some of them make me wonder why it isn't a feat and others make flavor sense for the class.

What compounds the problem is that I only allow the core books and the complete series so I limit the players from most of the other stuff out there. I want freedom for the players, but I can't afford to buy every book out there to work into the game. I have explained to the group that as my collection grows and I become familiar with books I will allow them into the game. I am currently trying to learn about psionics before my next DMing excursion. I have never played with psionics and think that it could be fun.
