| God of Slivers02-02-05, 12:03 PM | I saw this posted as a houserule somewhere on this board and thought it warrented further disscusion. I personally think that its a great idea, or a least a step in the right direction. What do you guys think about this? Remove XP penalty for multiclassing and give races 10% extra XP and +1 sp/level when advancing in their favored class. |
| jagggar02-02-05, 12:40 PM | What do you do with a race "Favored Class: Any"? |
| God of Slivers02-02-05, 12:53 PM | Same as before, their highest level class is considered their favored class. |
| ManinDarkness02-02-05, 01:05 PM | Remove XP penalty for multiclassing and give races 10% extra XP and +1 sp/level when advancing in their favored class. sp? Skill points? |
| God of Slivers02-02-05, 02:52 PM | Yes skill points, sorry, I thought that was clear enough, that's the abbr. that we use in my group anyways. It's like the humans ability, only it just applies to the racial favored class, or for humans their class with the most levels. |
| ManinDarkness02-02-05, 09:12 PM | So single-class humans get +10% xp and +2 skill point global. Not terribly unbalanced, given that most other characters would gain more ranks and the extra xp. But prestige classes wouldn't get this benefit, so they are a bit discouraged, as is multiclassing. If that is fine to you, its ok. |
| God of Slivers02-03-05, 08:58 AM | Don't get me wrong, I love prcs, but I also think that taking a core class from 1 to 20 should also be valid. This acts as an incentive to stay with your core class. It also helps get out of the dangerous low levels a little bit faster. After all, its no fun dieing the first round of combat just because a goblin got lucky with a crit. |
| Thelon Fairblade02-03-05, 09:13 AM | This is what I do IMC, instead: Since we use Action Points, Favored Class has this effect: Advance 1 level in a Favored Class (or related PrC): gain 5+lvl/2 points [normal advancement] Advance 1 level in any other class: gain only *3* + lvl/2 So, a slight penalty for not pursuing your strengths, but not a major issue. |
