FIGHTER VARIANT: NOMAD
The nomad is a wandering fighter, a traveler who learns the lay of the land and how to defend himself readily. He possesses most of the fighter’s key attributes, along with the skills that allow him to survive his nomadic lifestyle. A nomad typically isn’t tied down to one particular spot, but some may have a home to call their own when they are not out adventuring. Most nomads have a neutral bent, but it is not unheard of for a nomad to arise with a powerful independent or lawful streak.

Hit Die: The nomad uses a d8 for his Hit Die (and has hit points at 1st level equal to 8 + Con modifier).

Class Skills: Add the following skills to the fighter’s class skill list: Balance, Diplomacy, Hide, Knowledge (geography), Listen, Move Silently, Profession, Speak Language, Spot, Survival, and Tumble. Eliminate Intimidate from the nomad’s list of class skills. The nomad gains skill points per level equal to 4 + Int modifier (and has this number x4 at 1st level).

Class Features
The nomad has all the standard fighter class features, except as noted below.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Nomads are proficient with all simple and martial weapons and with light and medium armor.

Bonus Feat: The nomad gains Endurance as a bonus feat at 1st level. This is in addition to the bonus fighter feat at 1st, 2nd, and every even level afterward the nomad normally gets.

Balanced? Acceptable? Comments?

Quite underpowered.

Since the Nomad loses Shield, Tower Shield and Heavy Armor, you should raise the HD back to d10 and add Climb, Jump, Swim & Tumble to the list of class skills (afterall, the Nomad is supposed to be able to be quite mobile). But this would have to come at the expense of Run feat - being a traveler doesn't necessarily makes you a great sprinter.

I didn't think it was that underpowered; I was more worried the bonus skill points would make it too overpowered. I only added the Endurance and Run feats as extra feats you could choose from the list of fighter bonus feats in case the character was going to focus in overland or short distance travel.

Climb and Jump are already a part of the Nomad's skill set, as the above skills only modify the existing Fighter class skills. I could see adding Tumble without overpowering it too much. The Hit Die I would probably leave the same, just because it doesn't get the same battle training that the typical fighter gets, and otherwise it might be too overpowered.

My miss reading on the skills part.

I think the increased skilles capability is offsetted quite nicely with the loss of 3 feats.
If you lower the HD to d8, you should add Endurance as a 1st level bonus.
About Run feat....... guess it does have a combat aspect.

As in running away from the fight? Maybe.

Okay, how about we forget about Run as a fighter bonus feat for right now, and just go with Endurance as a Bonus feat at 1st level, with the lowered Hit Die.

Does that look alright?
