02-28-05, 10:51 PM Without getting into complex geometry, would it be reasonable to expand the range of a ranged weapon by 1 increment if the firing character is elevated above his target? Or would a +2 circumstance bonus to hit for a highly elevated character be sufficient?

I'm thinking specifically of orcs standing atop a low bluff hurling orcish shotputs. ::Grins::

03-01-05, 12:28 AM I would be inclined to extend the maximum range by 1/2 of the height difference.

I was thinking, what about a +2 circumstance bonus from elevated position (firing on a flatter trajectory, not requiring as much heft or arc), and then adding an "extreme" range increment, equal to the elevation height, but no more than a single range increment? (You could get an extra 10 feet on a dagger from a 10 foot wall or a 100 foot battlement, but the battlement gives a bowman or crossbowman a far superior position.)

A little bit complicated, but if you're keeping track of elevation heights, not so bad.
