| Bifford04-17-04, 06:36 AM | What if I took Pathetic (CON) at 1st level in order to get an extra feat, but later on decided to become a lich? Undead have no CON scores, so this Flaw becomes meaningless. From a story point, one can sympathise with a wizard who rejects flesh as a means to bypass his physical infirmity, but how would one handle this mechanically? I have a free feat now. |
| Flouric04-17-04, 08:29 AM | If as a DM I encountered that situation I'd probably give the player the option of losing the feat gained from the now obsolete flaw (perhaps due to the trauma of the change) or trade in the flaw for a more appropriate one (explained as a minor mistake during the change) |
| Salla04-17-04, 09:29 AM | I'd just switch the Flaw to apply a negative to whatever-it-is-Liches-use-in-place-of-Constitution (Charisma?). |
| MattMart04-17-04, 09:51 AM | I think that at like...15th level...that one bonus feat isnt gunna make a bit of difference.... let them keep it...wouldnt make much in game sense to suddenly lose it....and what if it was a prerequisite for other feats they have? you'd do nothing but upset the player... also....what about an elf lich? they get a -2 to con in order to get a +2 to dex.... when they lose the con score should we take away the dex bonus? or if someone aged before they became a lich....and got a penalty to con and str in exchange for int and wis.... once con is gone....do we take away the int or wis bonus? we're playing with fire here....one of the golden rules of dming....NO TAKEBACKS! it does nothing but upset people and create little paradoxes and disrupts gameplay and character concept and countless other things... |
| Glak04-17-04, 11:40 AM | yeah I agree, he should keep the flaw as is. |
| EvilDuck04-17-04, 08:59 PM | Then that's just a fringe benefit of becoming a lich. |

Anybody who survives to gain 11 caster levels (with D4 HD) with a weak con score deserves a reward for that sort of great roleplaying! |
