Generic Spellcasting Question [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-19-06, 05:34 PM I have a question about the Generic Spellcasting class from UA, and I'm sorry if it's been asked before. The wording in the book was a little unclear. I know you choose whether or not you're an arcane or a divine spellcaster, but does that rule out spells of the other type? Common sense would say so, but the book only specifically said that it helped decide your primary spellcasting stat. Any help would be appreciated.

"A spellcaster must choose at 1st level whether to be an arcane spellcaster or a divine spellcaster. This choice has no impact on the spells that she may learn, but affects what kinds of scrolls she can use and which ability score controls her spellcasting." (emphasis mine)

You can choose spells from any of the lists.

09-19-06, 05:42 PM Spellcasters pick their spells from wizard, cleric, and druid lists. Their choosing to be an arcane/divine caster effects only their casting statistic and "how" they cast spells; it has no bearing on the spells they can learn.

I'd advise tossing ASF.

ASF = arcane spell failure.
