| Daemeon_Blackheart07-24-04, 01:00 AM | Hi all I have a question for all of you about the geslat char. Can a monster using the savage progression dual class when it is gaining levels in its monster class? |
| Saurenda07-24-04, 01:12 AM | Thats up to the Dm I would say. I'd have to say no off hand, espically with savage species close by and looking at examples like Raksaha who gain spells like a sorc for thier hitdie increases. You might be able to work something out, but as it stands from savage the variant rules of Arcana and gestault characters are meant for the PC "standard (core?)" races. A human Bard/Fighter who would use the BAB of a fighter and HD and the spell progression of a Bard and the ability to sing along with a Bard's skills. A Rakshasa who takes levels in his race, would be odd to take levels a sorc as he would gain them every second level anyways. Although you could plan a Fighter / Rakshasa is you wanted, though th outsider traits themselves would overpower everything of the fighter's class save the HD. I hope I've helped you. I'm a bit confused to see how to use with monsters, and thier savage progression. |
| Daemeon_Blackheart07-24-04, 11:19 AM | Thanks for the input. The reason why I asked this is because I am starting up a campaign using gestault chars. Two of my players are going to be dragons and thus wanted to give them a standard calss along with their monster class. |

Sick! You sir are sick and I suppose spontaneous divine spell casting is to add to the disgustingness of your character. ARGH. Weretiger with wings....and energey resistence, and not to mention that you choose a diety with claw as favored weapon it is all over. Gentlemen...behold.... Steve: What is it Dr.Wierd? *Weretiger eats steve leaving nothing left of his bloody corpse* Hungry, hungry favored soul! |
| april15197808-08-04, 07:32 PM | I would have to say no... Monster HD are just that, monster HD... Gestalt rules allow two classes, not two HD progressions (One racial, one class)... Though, there are those optional class progressions for races that SS brought to us... I would let them be combined, I think at least (I may have to look into this; an interesting point)... |
| Korimyr the Rat08-12-04, 05:10 AM | I allow Monster HD to combine with a single class each. Levels lost to Level Adjustment cannot be combined with classes, but I lower LA by 1 for every three full levels of LA (rounded down). In my campaigns, I replace Favored Class with a Favored Gestalt combination, and monster PCs have to combine their HD with one of the classes from their Favored Gestalt. |
