| Darth_Serenous01-12-08, 09:51 AM | Im preparing a Gestalt campaign and one of my players ask me : How do you handle multiclassing with Gestalt? And I just told him : I suppose that a 4th level character can be Wizard/Sorcerer 2 and Fighter/Rogue 2.. Am I correct? |
| UAMDB01-12-08, 10:40 AM | Well look at it this way. You have two characters on the sheet Side A and Side B Side A can multiclass as normal, and so can side B. So for a charatcer you can have Side A Fighter 2/Wizard1 Side B Cleric1/Rogue 2 This would be a 3rd level character. The way you handle everything is when you level you compare Hit Die, Skill points, and Each save of the two classes that was just gained at the new level. In this above example at level 3 the character is taking the first level of Wizard, and the second level or Rogue. So he would get a d6 Hit die since the rogues is better, get 8 skill points since the rogues is better. Get +2 to Will Save since the wizards bonus is better than the rogues, and a +1 Reflex since the rogues increase is better than the wizards. Combine the skill list of both class to determine which is considered class skills. Hope this helps. |

| Darth_Serenous01-12-08, 12:24 PM | So when you gain a level as Gestalt, you gain 2 level a once and can use them on the classes you want? |
| Eldritch_Lord01-12-08, 02:43 PM | So when you gain a level as Gestalt, you gain 2 level a once and can use them on the classes you want? Yes; it's almost exactly like having two separate character progressions and taking the best aspects of each. The only restriction is that any PrCs that are already Gestalt-ish (advancing 2+ classes like Mystic Theurge does) are highly suggested to be banned, though it's more a guideline than a rule. |
| BrianMc22301-12-08, 04:28 PM | It's a very wise guidline though. otherwise you end up with someone who could be a (Caster level) Wiz18/Cleric17/Psion15. You get 9th level Arcane Spells, 9th level Divine Spells, and 8th level powers. Or they could line themselves up to be the god of gish and be a wiz20/cleric20 with a bab of 17 and ten levels of d12 hit dice. |
| strenoth01-13-08, 11:43 AM | I generally take dual-class PrCs that have a focus (like true necro), beef 'em up (full casting progression for arcane and divine, bonus domain, something else I can't remember) and let it replace both sides of the getalt, making it a specilized gestalt all by itself. |
