Thats right, another thread about everybodies favorite high-power varient. I'm thinking about letting players use a Savage Progresion as one of their classes. Does this sound fair to anyone else? Any idea on how I should handle Hit Dice (the only real problem area I can find)?

Edit: Okay, I guess I should elaborate on my own ideas. Let's say someone wants to play an 8th level Mindflayer Barbarian. In the system I've thought up, the player gains all class features for the Barb and Mindflayer as normal, highest saves, BAB, ect. but only gains Skill Points, Feats, and Hit dice on levels that the Progression says you do.

Furthermore, monsters with low LAs would work like this: A Player wants to be an 8th level Drow Druid/Bard. He would use the +2 LA for being Drow as 2 of his Character levels. Thus he effectivly would be either a level 8 Druid/6 Bard Drow, or 8 Bard/ 6 Druid Drow (with 6 Hit dice since he wouldn't get them on the first 2 levels).

Does that sound good?

Sorry thatīs not exactly how it works:

When using the Gestalt rules you donīt advance in two clases simultaniously, you make a single class of them. That means you could create a Drow Druid6/Barbarian6 as ECL 8 character.
Itīs true that LA hurts much more in Gestalt builds and I would suggest you to use the buying off La variant from UA.

The combination of of classlevels/monsterclss works too but remember that you only gain a HD when the monsterclass says you get, same for skills and BAB so a monsterclass might not be the right for all characters.
Not that such combinations would be weak, a level 7Fighter/Ghaele is something I would not want to make angry - ever.

I realize you don't literally get two levels everytime, simplifing it like that just seemed like the best way to describe it it words. I think I'm getting my basic idea across, right?

My solution to LA is there simply as a tag along. I didn't particularly like the idea of buying off LA, or the idea of screwing monsters with LAs over. My general idea was treat it as its own mini-progression.
