I'm DMing a gestalt game, and one of my players is a Rogue/Mind Blade Whisper Gnome. He was originally going to be a monk, for the speed, but decided to swap out for MB for extra damage. So, to gain back some speed, he decided to multiclass into Barbi for one level. His character looks like this: 1 MB Rog 2 MB Barb 3 MB Rog 4 MB Rog 5 MB Rog My question is regards to the BaB progression. The second level of rogue is +1, as is the third level of MB. However, the third level of rogue is +1 while the fourth level of MB is +0. Given the basic progression, he'd end up at +19 BaB at 20th (having rogue and MB offset by one level covers each instance of their +0 for the 3/4 progression.) I think the solution would be to utilize the Fractional Base Bonuses from the UA - which would also help with the saves (which I haven't gotten around to working out.) Using the Fractional Base Bonuses (which only modify the Rogue/Barb table), I end up with the following progression: 1-5 6-10 11-15 16-20 0 4 8 12 1 5 9 13 2 6 10 13 3 7 10 14 4 7 11 15 So, slightly faster than a normal 3/4 progression, but ends up in the same place in the end... Am I correct here? Thanks! Theo |

You're supposed to just look at both sides of your gestalt at each level, and assign yourself the best total BAB that either side could give. In other words, once he's taken that Barbarian level, his BAB will progress following the rogue/barb's side of the character. You just ignore the Soulknife's side. |

The Barbarian uses the good sdvancement of +1 per round (easy math). So he went Classes______BaB________Usuable BaB Sk / Rog ____+3/4 (.75)______+ 0 Sk / Barb____+1 3/4 (1.75)____+ 1 SK / Rog_____+ 2 1/2 (2.5)____+ 2 Sk / Rog_____+ 3 1/4 (3.25)___+ 3 Sk / Rog_____+ 4 (4)__________+ 4 Just figure the fraction or decimal equivilant of the progression add it to the current BaB and round down. Hope this helps. Good luck and happy gaming |
