I have a few Gestalt questions. I recently made the mistake of getting my group interested in a Gestalt game (kidding, on that mistake, I'm looking forward to it), and I need to determine how the classes are going to combine.

1) How would a Rogue's sneak attack stack with the bonus damage from the Ninja and Scout class abilities (both from CAdv)?

2) What class combinations (I am using all the classes from the Complete books, but probably not Psionics) are the most open to abuse?

Thanks, I'll probably ask more later, but thank you for your help.

1)Any Time Both Sets of Conditions are met, you get both sets of extra damage. Whenever you meet only one set, you get that extra damage. When you meet neither set of conditions, you get none.

2)Gestalt disallows "multiclass" PrCs like mystic theurge, arcane trickster, etc, because they are doing exactly what gestalt is doing. If you allow mystic theurge you can brace yourself for my Illegal combo the Spellsource (this doesn't actually work): Wiz3:Clr3/MT10:Drd10/Arcane Hierophant7:Clr7.

You cast as a 20th level wizard, 20th level Cleric, 17th level Druid, with the turning of a 10th level cleric, the wildshape of a 17th level druid, and a familiar companion that combines a 13th level familiar and a 17th level animal companion into one creature. It's just sick, and is one of the many reasons that multiclass PrCs aren't allowed. THIS DOESN'T WORK IN GESTALT.

Cloistered Cleric is very open to abuse with respect to gestalt.

I'm a paladin. I want to take a priestly class to accentuate my holyness. Alternately, I'm a fighter who wants to gestalt with a priestly class to simulate a paladin.

If I gestalt with cleric, I gain spells and turn undead.

If I gestalt with cloistered cleric, I gain spells, turn undead, 6+int skill points, a great list of class skills and bardic knowledge.

Whether this is abusive or not depends on the players, the GM, the game... as a player, I'd certainly beg to play a paladin/cloistered cleric. And there are certainly some class combinations that are more synergistic (say, wizard/monk) than others. Just be on the lookout for 'gain everything/lose nothing' combinations and make sure they don't get out of control. :)

Concerning the gestalt paladin/cloistered cleric. I would not allow this combination, not because it it open to abuse and would be rather powerful, but beacuse the combination really does not make sense. The cloistered cleric was designed to make a less martial cleric a reasonable option and mixing that with the paladin, the holy warrior, completely defeats the purpose of the cloistered cleric.

that being said the c. cleric/wizard would be rather spiffy.
