| Ringrose02-27-04, 12:05 PM | I was looking to create a campaign around Gestalt class characters. I believe I can limit the sometimes difference between power levels of players by creating the specific classes myself. With their input I will create classes up to the beginning of epic which would be more work for me in the beginning but I believe would definitely increase the enjoyment for myself and the players. Together we could create the classes and all players can give input into everyone’s new class with my self as final arbitrator. These classes could then be tweaked for balance from the very beginning and should limit the surprises down the road. I am in the process of creating a few example classes for the players and would appreciate any input. Each class would be imposed certain penalties...all would receive a +2 LA (but I am thinking of starting everyone at 6th character level (4th Gestalt for these classes) and some class abilities removed and replaced (mostly for flavor but with party balance in mind). Examples--- Fighter/mage type--- (Fighter/wizard/Spellsword and Archmage) Class already somewhat created in the link below... ringrose.org/dnd/warmage.htm Frost Giant (class from savage species)/Domain Wizard (Cold) --- I would impose a limit on this one to never be able to use prestige classes until the Frost Giant levels have been completed. (Which means epic because of the +2 LA) I have added what I have created on this class in the link below... ringrose.org/dnd/winterwizard.htm Wizard/Priest--- No prestige classes allowed for this one as well since basically the entire class is Mystic Theurge on steroids anyways. I have added in an example mage-priest in the link below... ringrose.org/dnd/magepriest.htm Paladin/Battle Sorcerer---I would force this one to take levels of Spellsword instead of Battle Sorcerer early on so the character could wear heavier Armors (maybe with a +5 bonus to reduce arcane spell failure because of the levels of Battle Sorcerer (which allows light armor anyways). This class has more penalties than the Warmage one above because of the common preferred attribute between Paladin and Sorcerer (Charisma). Rage Warrior----just added the link to this one...tell me what you think... ringrose.org/dnd/ragewarrior.htm These are just some examples...any feedback would be appreciated...remember I am trying for party balance and not Uberness... Edited---added hyperlinks to some of the classes I am designing... Kurt |

| ZebRaderJedi02-27-04, 11:28 PM | Dude! I'm liking the Knight of Mystra a whole bunch - very interesting idea creating "new" classes by set progressions. My hat's off to you....gonna mull over some set progressions for this...been interested in toying with a Rogue/Psion/Invisible Blade progression...I'll see what I can do... Cheers, Zeb |
| Ice Wizard02-28-04, 12:05 AM | If you are using any Psionics in your "Gestalt Game" I have but one mix for you to think upon: Barbarian(or one of the other Melee classes) and Egoist: This Gestalt combination is what I like to call a "Muscle-Mage" (which is a misnomer since we are dealing with Psionics rather than Magick) Broken? Probably, but very VERY cool :D (Edited for spelling and grammatical errors  ) |
| Ringrose02-28-04, 01:46 AM | Thanks for the feedback so far...I have included what I have on the Frost Giant/Domain Wizard (cold) class as a link in the original post...let the feedback keep rolling in...and remember I'm trying for party balance but diversity in this...kinda fun playing around with Gestalt types... |
| Ringrose02-28-04, 12:31 PM | I have added a link in the original post to the mage-priest class I am creating...input welcome...:) :) :) |
