Would a gestalt Animal companion / Familiar be too powerfull?

I'm about to try it out and if any of have done it and found it too strong I'd like to know.

Compared to having one of each? A starting character with a wolf companion and a raven familiar is more versatile than one with a wolf companion/familiar, but each one is more vulnerable to being picked off. Then again, you know what they say about putting all your eggs in one basket.

In conclusion, not that big of a deal.

If you're playing a Gestalt character, having a gestalt companion/familiar wouldn't be out of the question. Besides it might be cool to have a com/fam falcon or hawk. It would advance in abilities as both a familiar and companion. I cannot see it being too powerful in that respect at all.

Only question is, if you're playing a Sor/Wiz gestalt, would you get a familiar/familiar? Or would you just know your familiar really well?

a familiars hit points are equal to half of the masters hit points.
so then a dwarven barbarian wizard seems like a nice choice...
then add the improved familiar feat and the augment familiar spell. you suddenly have a battle buddy

A familiar's BAB is the same as the master's, so that's doubly good.

Look at them level by level and choose the attribute from each type that is the best. So if the animal companion would grant you better HP take those over that of the familiar. If the BAB is better as a familiar take that. Specials such as alertness, communication methods, et. al. stack. At least that would be my interpretation.
