| jaerad04-15-05, 12:29 AM | I think that to fit the concept I have in mind I'm going to do something along the lines of Fighter 20/Dwarven Defender 10/Deepwarden 5/Dwarf Paragon 5 (modified here: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=251402). Stats will be 18 STR, 8 DEX^, 20 CON, 14 INT, 10 WIS, 6 CHA (30 pt). Mostly specializing in charging in and wrecking havoc. This will make a total AC/HP juggernaut weilding a big *** weapon. Decked out in lots of armor, Dwarven Warpike*, Goliath Greathammer*, back-up Dwarven Waraxe, & some throwing axes. Feats will be mostly centered around PA/Charge stuff, with some going to Throwning weapon improvements. A lot of people have suggested going for Combat Refx and Imp. Trip. Combat Refx won't help me if I have 8 DEX - so is tripping still a viable option? As far as Cleric goes, it doesn't really fit the concept I have of a specialized 2H fighter tank. I guess I could RP it as blessed by the gods 'cause I'm so great, but eh. I was thinking about something, and that is that this build doesn't require Gestalting (everything is favored class, so you could just multiclass it with no penalties). Does that mean I should look to take another class, on top of what I already have? I mean I guess I can, but this build already sounds REALLY strong. Should I take another class to keep up with Gestalted party members? All comments welcome, I am a n3wb and am trying to learn this all meself. I'm basically looking to set up a Dwarf fighter with 2H weapons. I prefer Fighter > Barb. because of armor and I don't much like rage. Not very interested in mounted combat, ranged combat, sneak attacks, turning into a walrus, etc. ^ I know this has a conflict with Dodge pre-reqs (and therefore DD prereqs). * 2x6 x3, reach, trip, set vs charge - Races of Stone ** 1d12 x4 - Races of Stone |
| HailSpork04-15-05, 12:59 AM | Perhaps you're thinking of Combat Expertise instead of Combat Reflexes. CE is the prereq for improved trip. Anyway, this is the wrong forum for this. You want "Character Optimization (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=21)." |
| jaerad04-15-05, 02:50 AM | I put it here because I was wondering specifically about Gestalting (I made a mistake and I thought I wasn't Gestalting already with this build). As far as my mistake goes, I forgot that while favored classes get rid of XP Penalty, they don't let you gain two levels at a time like Gestalting does. So.. I guess pretty much ignore this post. It does belong on another board as far as the advice I want goes. |
