| Mr. VanderMeer02-27-04, 06:30 AM | I would not include the Gestalt rules in my campaign very quickly. I feel it would be too much work too modify the world and the adventures. However, Gestalt seems like a good idea if you have only two players, but still want to run standard adventures. You could have a complete party with only two players. Maybe a fighter cleric and a wizard rogue? Of course this could also be done with multiclassing, but this way makes the party of two able to take on somewhat higher challenges. Whaddaythink? Gestalt only for mini-groups? |
| DM Zoc02-27-04, 07:02 AM | That's exactly what they suggest, and it's pretty much what I agree with. |
| Mr. VanderMeer02-27-04, 07:33 AM | Oh, I guess I didn't read the text well enough. I hurried through the book, because I saw so many cool ideas. |
| Gestalt_Commoner02-27-04, 10:12 AM | in mi parte we hve 7 ppl woh play. tehy of corse nowe al ues gestalts. it is vry hrad 4 me 2 dm so ya i agreee use it 4 smlal groops teeheeeheee :D :D :D :D |
| Mr. VanderMeer02-27-04, 10:38 AM | With seven players I would not allow it. That is just too much work. |

| Belegbeth02-27-04, 01:05 PM | As UA explains, I think Gestalt would be appropriate for very small parties (e.g. 2 characters). A campaign like that could be very fun -- similar in feel to Leiber's "Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser" stories. |
| Mr. VanderMeer02-27-04, 02:49 PM | Good call Belegbeth. Some of the fantasy heroes from books could really fit the bill. Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser are good examples. Maybe Conan too. |
| Hygric02-27-04, 10:23 PM | Definately Conan. He is a barbarian / rogue if ever there was one. He is described as Conan the Thief almost as often as Conan the barbarian in the books. How about Elric? Fighter/Conjurer? Is this a good use for gestalt, doing up truly epic NPC's? |

I think so, in fact in the Dragaera d20 Yahoo group we've been talking about Steven Brust's Vlad Taltos series in potential gestalt terms. Most of the other folks aren't too interested, but I think Vlad as a Rogue/Psion or Rogue/Battle Sorcerer would be pretty fitting. Add in VP/WP and DB by class and you're golden. Cheers, Zeb |
| Edymnion02-27-04, 11:28 PM | Gestalt Sorcerer/Monk Were-Gorilla. Think about it. :D |
| jedrious02-28-04, 12:30 AM | too bad tenser's transformation doesn't increase size |
| Bard-of-all-trades03-17-04, 12:55 PM | I'm in a campaign that lost several players due to loss of jobs and having to move to "greener pastures". There are only 3 players left besides the DM. I had started a multi-class ranger/monk (using the Oriental Adventures option so my monk could multi-class). Since our party has dwindled, our DM has graciously offered to let us gestalt our characters and continue. This is a win/win situation in our case. We will once again have everything needed to continue our campaign (ability- and class-wise) and the DM will need to only tweek a few things in his campaign (at least, that's his story). Even though we will have fewer members, the overall CR of each encounter should stay the same. Cool option and we cannot wait to use our new characters! |

It is very hard for me to DM so yes I agree: use it for small groups. teeheeeheee :D :D :D :D Seven players... No wonder his spelling is so bad. I salute you sir for being able to survive. |
| DarkThoughts2403-21-04, 09:15 PM | most of the time we have 2-3 players, i find gestaltin acceptable dependin on the character in question, some are best with adversity |
