| inferno_29207-01-05, 05:42 PM | Hey I've made a gestalt monk\wizard and i want to add a perstige class but will the monks inability to cross class affect that? |
| The Human Target07-01-05, 08:18 PM | No, because a prestige class never counts as being cross class. Think of it as a specialization. Prestige class never cost toward the xp penalty to multiclassing either, if you're DM uses those rules (I don't.) But always talk to your DM first. |

Prestige classes do indeed disqualify you to advance further in monk or paladin (unless they specifically state in the description of the PrC that it doesn't--like the tattooed monk or enlightened fist). In this case, it will only cause problems if you take a level of PrC-wizard. Monk-PrC is fine. |
| Count Arioch the 28th07-01-05, 09:07 PM | He's not talking about that, he's talking about cross-classing. If he was talking about multiclassing, he would have said so. He didn't he's talking about cross-classing. To answer the OP's question, there is no restriction against monks cross-classing. They can spend their skil points however they want, they don't take penalties for spending them on skills not on their skill list. the only restriction monks have is multiclassing for some reason, which is done for flavor reasons not balance reasons. |

We never use those rules so it isn't an issue. |
| XrP-Leon The Second07-03-05, 01:52 PM | Hey I've made a gestalt monk\wizard and i want to add a perstige class but will the monks inability to cross class affect that? A monk can cross class into any perstige class or other class, but on very few occasions can you still tkae levels in your monk class. Some are Races that allow you to do so freely, as in the race from Races of Wild. Classes and prestige classes the explicitly say you can multiclass into them, and still advance your monk levels. Rule 0 and DM aproval. Now, I don't quite get the exacts of your question, so I'll answer some others... Monks, as can ANY class, regardless of race, multiclass into a prestige class without the penalties from muticlassing, unless theres some obscure race in a forgotten magazine, but I degress. Monks can spend their skill points freely on their class skills or their cross-class skills, as can anyone else. Does this answer your question? |
| Udnamtam07-04-05, 12:37 AM | keep progressing in your monk levels, phase out your wizards levels and throw in a prestige class with full spellcasting |
