| Rebel58107-26-07, 06:25 PM | Can you multiclass in gestalt games? I've got a Ranger/Druid I want to play and I want to be an effective caster and archer but if I go only Ranger, I won't be as effective of a ranger than if I PrC out to Order of the Bow Initiate or went Swift Hunter. How would that work? Would I take an experience penalty? |
| gbnogkfs07-27-07, 09:21 AM | yes, you can. at least that's strongly suggested by the PrCs being specifically addressed. No one knows for sure how this should be hanged, save a couple of sussgestions: 1) Use the fractional BAB and Saves variant. 2) There's no reason to ever alter the rule: once the favoured class eliminated, every class more than 1 level apart from the maximum one imposes a 20% penalty. However, as many people hate the experienxe penalty altogether (munchkins...), they wouldn't ever think how it shold apply to gestalt. |
| Shaggy_Shaggs07-27-07, 09:27 AM | For this specific example you don't need to worry. Even without gestalt, PrCs never count toward multiclass imbalances. |
| Rebel58107-27-07, 10:03 AM | Prestige Classes don't count towards multiclass penalties? That'll work. But if I chose Ranger/Druid and then decided to up my scout level, I would get a penalty. For example, if I raised my Scout level to 3 and then started just raising my Ranger and Druid level (so the Druid level would be 20 and the Ranger level would be 17 by level 20). Also, do the Ranger and Druid ECL stack? Or do I just use the Druid level because of how gestalt works? |
