(Another thread touched on this, but I don't want to hijack it, so I'm starting it here.)

The idea is to design a Mystic Theurge Gestalt PrC. Apologies in advance for not putting it into formal PrC format (yet). Here's my first brainstorm:

Requirements: Must be able to cast 3th level Arcane spells and 4th level Divine spells. (This requirement should allow sorcerers and wizards to qualify for it at the same time.) (Edit: Realized feats below didn't really work for a druid. Adding the following requirement: ) Must be able to spontaneously cast cure or inflict wounds spells.

HD: d6
BAB: 1/2 levels
Skill points: 2 + int
Saves: Strong Fort, Will; Weak Ref

Skills: The Mystic Theurge's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Diplomacy (Cha), Decipher Script (Int), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (all skills, taken individually) (Int), Profession (Wis), Spellcraft (Int), and Use Magic Device (Cha).

As a gestalt PrC, it takes up both character slots, but provides +1 divine spellcasting and +1 arcane spellcasting. Note that levels of Mystic Theurge DO NOT count as Cleric levels for purposes of Turning Undead, and also DO NOT add to arcane caster levels for purposes of advancing the familiar.

In addition, at the following levels, it provides additional benefits:

Level 1: Casting Synergy - the Mystic Theurge's intimate knowledge of all forms of magic give him an effective +1 caster level.
Also, character gains the Magical Aptitude feat for free. If the character already possesses that feat, they do not receive any additional benefits.

Level 2: Additional Domain - Character gains an additional domain. The default domain gained is Magic. If the character already possesses the Magic domain, he acquires Travel instead. If he already possesses both the Magic and Travel domains, he can choose one of Law, Chaos, Good, Evil, or Knowledge.

Level 3: Bonus Feat - The character gains a bonus feat. This must be a metamagic feat or an item creation feat.
Also, character gains the Skill Focus: Spellcraft feat for free. If the character already possesses that feat, they do not receive any additional benefits.

Level 4: Extraplaner Familiar - Character's familar gains a template appropriate to the character's alignment: Celestial, Infernal, Anarachic or Axiomatic. (If there's a true-neutral template that I'm forgetting, add that here.) If the character does not have a familiar, they receive no additional benefits.

Level 5: Divine Arcanum I - Choose one domain the character knows. The character can now memorize or spontaneously cast domain spells for that domain as if they were in his spell book or are among his arcane spells known.

Level 6: Bonus Feat - The character gains a bonus feat. This must be a metamagic feat or an item creation feat.
Also, character gains the Skill Focus: Concentration feat for free. If the character already possesses that feat, they do not receive any additional benefits.

Level 7: Arcane Divinity - The character can sacrifice prepared arcane spells (or spell slots if a spontaneous caster) to cast Cure/Inflict spells as if those spells were divine. (Bonus spells from school specialization cannot be sacrificed.)

Level 8: Additional Domain - Character gains an additional domain. The default domain gained is Travel. If the character already possesses the Travel domain, he can choose one of Law, Chaos, Good, Evil, or Knowledge.

Level 9: Bonus Feat - The character gains a bonus feat. This must be a metamagic feat or an item creation feat.
Also, character gains the Skill Focus: Use Magic Device feat for free. If the character already possesses that feat, they do not receive any additional benefits.

Level 10: Divine Arcanum II - Choose one additional domain the character knows. The character can now memorize or spontaneously cast domain spells for that domain as if they were in his spell book or are among his arcane spells known.

While reflecting on the above brainstorm, it occurs to me that this PrC is vastly more beneficial to the Cleric/Sorcerer gestalt than it is to the Cleric/Wizard. Any ideas how I can rectify that imbalance?

Tons of people on the classes board would be happy with that imbalance.:D
