| NeoIceshroom08-17-05, 08:16 PM | Disclaimer : I'm sure this variant has probably been done a thousand times already, but please forgive me, I'm new to the forums, but I've been doing D&D since I was 7 (about 10 years). As I've read, gestalt characters are realitively simple to make and can be quite a lot of fun, although finding an appropriate level adjustment may be difficult, they are especially good for small parties (I consider a party of less than 4 PCs to be small) and worth the effort. According to the Unearthed Arcana prestige classes cannot be gestalts, and I can understand why, that would require characters to be HIGHLY specialized in what they do, but when you've done just about everything else making a gestalt prestige is not hard at all. As it's said in the UA prestige classes are essintially class combinations of sorts anyway, and since gestalt characters can qualify for them earlier, making a gestalt prestige is nearly ludocris.(sp?) As a semi-solution to this method of over-powering for making a gestalt prestige is rather than taking the highest of the requirements for the class, simply add them together. For example if one prestige class requires X ranks in Y skill and another prestige class you wish to combine requires Z ranks in Y skill simply add X+Z for the total ranks needed in Y skill. Or the simple arithmatic version would be suppose one prestige class requires a Base attack bonus of +4 and another one requires +3, the total requirement for the base attack bonus would be +7. Characters with this variant rule must meet all of the special requirements to become a gestalt prestige. Once again, this is just an interesting little variant for power-gamers, but if anyone has anything they'd like to add or that I missed feel free to submit your input. |

Lasher, Ronin, Bear Warrior, Thief Acrobat, Master of Many Forms, etc, most things that specialize specific talents are fine for gestalt. Eldritch Knight, Arcane Trickster, Mystic Theurge, these types aren't allowed because they are two classes mashed into one. I wouldn't disallow all PrCs, but watch out for the rare multiclass PrC. |
| Prak, the Mad08-18-05, 09:06 PM | yeah watch out for someone combining Mystic theurge with True Necromancer. a tenth level character casts at lv. 25 for necromancy spells, when combined with war spells like animate undead legion, and a feat called Undead Mastery, this allows the player to animate 1250 HD of undead, and 1300 if they have the Evil domain. yes, I've done this. :D |
