Are there any rulings on Gestalt level with a monster class (like out of savage species)? For example Mind flayer 5/Wizard 5.

It it persived as bad to mix base classes with monster classes, has ony one tried this personally?

There is NO official rule. Here are the following common home-brew methods:

1) Treat all the racial HD and level adjustments of the race as one class (ala Savage species) that you gestalt with using normal classes. This is the highest power option, as you are gestalting class levels with level adjustment, thus getting you HD and allt he benifits there of where before you had none. this is what I personally use.

2a) Gestalt racial HD to class levels normally, but Level adjustment still takes up a whole elvel, you can not gestalt with class levels. So a creature with 4 racial HD and a LA of +2 would, at 6th level, have 4 class levels gestalted with racial HD, and 2 levels of LA

2b) As above, but cut the LA in half (or alternatively phrased as taking up both sides of the gestalt. Same thing)

3) Can't gestalt with racial levels at all, you have to take all racial HD and LA, THEN you can start taking your gestalt levels. This is the harshest one, and makes a non-standard race incredibly weak compared to a normal human.
