| Riznar08-05-04, 04:05 PM | This is a thread for fun things that can only happen in a gestalt campaign. Most of mine concern a were-bear barbarian. (He is using the savage progression) After my 3 PCs first adventurer with their new ECL 6 characters. Were-bear/Barb: "So let me get this straight, I've got 3/80 hp left, and not a single one of us has the ability to magically heal or even has the heal skill. I'm going to lay on the beach for a few weeks in bear form." Me: "Okay, who doesn't have evasion?" Bearbarian: "Me..." And a case of the PC getting overconfidant: Pixie/Rogue: "I want to challenge the huge water elemental to one on one!" |
| Templar_Prime08-05-04, 08:24 PM | How about all the times the ranger/rogues with two weapon fighting, sneak attack up the wazoo, and flick of the wrist are doing more damage on average than the paladin does with a smite? Or 5 characters, all buffed out for combat and magic....and when survival rolls are needed to see if they can find food for the five-day treck across the wilderness with no rations not one of them rolled above 10. And there are the poor players, who realize the GM's orginal 'low level game' has shot up to epic levels in record time, wondering WTF classes to take when all their base class progressions run out. |

Ooh, I've been in campaigns like that! Once we jumped up to level 8 just so the DM could have a half-dragon PC join the party. He was still more powerful than we were... |
| Deluxe 247 G08-08-04, 06:20 PM | While on the subject of gestalts I have a few questions. Have you guys ever played in a campaign where gestalt characters were mixed with normal characters? I've been very interested in doing this because not all of the PCs want to have a gestalt character. I've come up with the following EXP charts if you want to run a gestalt/normal campaign. Normally characters level up as follows: Level 2: 1000 Level 3: 3000 Level 4: 6000 Level 5: 10000 Level 6: 15000 Level 7: 21000 Level 8: 28000 Level 9: 36000 Level 10: 45000 And so on and so forth. After much testing and consideration I decided to multiply the gestalt character needs by 7/4. So say you want to make a 3rd level gestalt character. You take the normal 3000 EXP needed, and multiply it by 7/4. You end up with 5,250. I decided to do this because it's not quite twice as slow, but it's over half-way better. Here are the standard charts for gestalt. Gestalt characters level up as follows: Level 2: 1750 Level 3: 5250 Level 4: 10500 Level 5: 17500 Level 6: 26250 Level 7: 36750 Level 8: 49000 Level 9: 63000 Level 10: 78750 And so on and so forth. What do you guys think about this? Should we just leave the two different characters in different settings or what? Thanks, Eli |
| Templar_Prime08-08-04, 07:12 PM | Um...dude? In case the other place you posted that list in didn't make it clear, gestalt is all or nothing. And this thread is for humor, not stats. |
