Gestalt Spellcaster question [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-16-05, 03:47 PM I was wondering what would happen if you were a wizard/cleric gestalt cleric for five levels, and then started becoming a Mystic Theurge. Since you gain a spell level per day in both arcane and divine classes with each theurge level, and a gestalt character gains two class levels for each character level (can't take two prestige classes at once, but it'd be cool if you could!! :D ), what if you chose to go up as a Mystic Theurge and a wizard. Would you gain two spell levels, one for being a wizard and one for the mystic theurge, making you a 7th level arcane caster?

08-16-05, 03:53 PM Mystic Theurge is disallowed in gestalting, because it's the same thing as gestalting wizard/cleric. Same thing for arcane trickster, and really any class whose sole purpose is mashing two classes together. You already get to do that as a Gestalt character.
