However, if you were going with sorcerer instead (thus having two different spell progressions) I would allow elemental savant to add to the sorcerer level. |

| Vecna02-20-04, 05:43 AM | You could instead mix Wiz with one of those spellcasting PrC with no spellcaster advancement at odd levels. You can do: Wizard + Prc (level with no spellcasting progression) Fighter + Prc (level with spellcasting progression) |
| Banpai02-20-04, 06:49 AM | Oh it indeed does work simply do it like Evoker 5 /Abjurer 5 or Wiz 5 / Domain Wizard 5 |
| askala302-21-04, 12:55 AM | The answer to this question is the 1st caveat on class features. from UA, pg 73 • Class features that two classes share (such as uncanny dodge) accrue at the rate of the faster class. The 2nd caveat doesn't apply, as you only have one spellcasting class. You can't gain an ability at double the rate through gestalt. Banpai's suggestion does work though. You'll have two separate sets of spells that way, and then could take advantage of a spellcasting PrC while still leveling as a spellcaster. |
| stone_dog02-21-04, 01:22 AM | Actually Banpai's suggestion does not work. An Abjurer and an evoker or a wizard and a domain wizard are still all wizards. It says right in the book you can't combine different versions of the same class. No fighter/thugs or urban and rural rangers. Sorcerers and wizards are fine as they are different classes, as are druids and rangers. THEN you would keep two different running spell lists. It describes such an action in the sample characters. If you have a PrC with a spellcasting progression and a normal core spell casting class, the class you are currently taking would not advance double. However, say you have sorc/wiz at level 4, and went with wiz and savant for level 5, then the extra arcane caster level could go to sorcerer. You wouldn't be able to boost a single caster level twice in one leveling though. |
