sedqon 08-08-05, 10:21 PM	if a gestalt character is taking levels in both a spellcasting class and a PrC that grants additional spells per day (something like +1 level of existing spellcasting class), do they essentially gain two spellcaster levels each time they level up? if so, do spellcaster levels increase beyond 20 if the character is not yet an epic character?

Tyler Do'Urden 08-09-05, 03:28 AM	1) "+1 level of spellcasting class" is one of those "like class features" they're talking about, like sneak attack damage or uncanny dodge. "Class features that two classes share (such as uncanny dodge) accrue at the rate of the faster class." Bard, Cleric, Druid, Favored Soul, Hexblade, Paladin, Ranger, Sorcerer, and Wizard, all give you +1 level of spellcasting at every level. They don't say it explicitly, but it's true. So if you're gestalting three levels of wizard and three levels of human paragon, your caster level is 3. 2) Any class that gives you "+1 level of spellcasting class" is probably one of those combination classes that they tell you not to use. "Prestige classes that are essentially class combinations—such as the arcane trickster, cerebremancer, mystic theurge, and eldritch knight—should be prohibited if you're using gestalt classes, because they unduly complicate the game balance of what's already a high-powered variant."
strenoth 08-09-05, 07:21 PM	if you gain a level of wizard and a level of sorcerer ina single gestalt level, they are seperate progressions, you get one of each. If you are higehr levle, and you level wizard and a PrC that gives +1 spell caster level.. that spell caster level can not be applied towards wizard. If you have no other spell caster levels, then the benifit is simply lost, because in any oen level, you can only increase a particular class ability (such as spell casting) by 1
