| Cunning Gnome07-09-05, 07:09 AM | Hi iv just had an idea of how to spice up characters without the possibly overpowerdness of straight gestalting. My idea is is that each time a character gains an ability increase(every 4 levels) the character gains the effect of gestalting in another class. For example a fighter character who enjoys the study of magic and gains his forth level would get alll the benefits of a forth level fighter and the abilities of a first level wizard choosing the best skill points etc as u would when gestalting. Hope u like the idea think of it as the characters background class or hobby ;). |

Basically everything about the gestalted classes was determined by the DM [me], and provided mostly flavor, with a little bit of utility. Unfortunately, that particular campaign suffered a lot of scheduling problems (I think we met an average of once a month), and the players only barely made 2nd level by the end of the summer. Ah well... |

However I was afraid they mat quickly outpace everything. I might try your idea, but I think I will let them gestalt at first level as well. For the levels in between ability point raises they can choose between their two classes. Thanks for the new viewpoint. |
