Obviously it would take some expriementation, and gestalt was never really meant to be balanced..

But how would you feel about gestalting with prestige classes/base classes all the same?

Here's an example, say Kristina wants to be a sorcerer/duelist..

Now, sense the duelist stops progressing at level 10, what does this mean? Well, sense gestalt takes the best of everything.. She now relies on the sorcerer's saving throw progressions, the duelist's hit die, and the duelist's skillpoint amount per level.

All in all there's really little differance. You're just granting more (albeit possibly overpowerd) options, that tend to phaseout pass level 5 to 10.

Compare to Brandi's gestalt build of a cleric/paladin, base classes still have thier own worth because they continualy get abilities, they just tend to be weaker in general.

Alternatively I could choose a shadowdancer/assassin, and by level 10 i'll be relying tottaly on strong hit die, level increasing specials, and skillpoint increase. Because i stop gaining BaB, saving throw bonuses, and abilities/spells.

I'm sure a munchkin could abuse this and depending on the starting level of the game make himself alot more powerful then normal players, but that will always happen. I think this could really make the game more fun by providing even more options then gestalt originaly had planned.

Are you suggesting that you can start off at level one with a PrC?

Otherwise I have no idea what you are suggesting.

That's exactly what i'm suggesting.

That is a really bad idea in my opinion. Would you let someone start off in a regular game at first level as a PrC that has several prereqs?

Gesalt was meant to be balanced. It is basicly 2e version of Multiclasses. It is balanced because you still only get one action. Characters can be more powerful, but DM's are suppose to adjust CR alittle to account for this.

PrC have prereqs that are suppose to help balance out the power gained from having levels in that class. Allowing characters start out with them, ignoring the prereqs would unbalance the game, and it would end horribly.

way too powerful
a prestige class is something you have to earn
at the 1st level most of them are too powerful for the creatures you are boun d to meet
