| Roman04-13-04, 04:42 PM | I know, I know... it is not supposed to be done. However, imagine that a comparatively high level character dies and the DM has a rule that all new characters must be 1st level. What level would the other characters have to be for you to deem it reasonable to allow a 1st level gestalt wizard-sorcerer (or another gestalt combination) into the game? |
| ThoughtfulOwl04-13-04, 05:08 PM | I wouldn't mix gestalt and regular characters together, but if I had to do it, I would keep the gestalts no more than one level behind the regulars. The reason? Because gestalts gain a greater variety of features, but not more powerful ones. For example, a 1st level gestalt wizard/sorcerer can cast double the number of spells of regular 1st level wizards or sorcerers, but is still limited to 1st level spells and caster level 1. A 1st level gestalt barbarian/fighter still has only d12+con hit points, easily surpassed by a 2nd level straight ranger with his 2d8 + con*2 points and a decent Con score. |
