Gestalts, Racial HD and ECL [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-07-04, 02:07 PM Am I the only one to think that characters with ECL modifiers and Racial HD get a little screwed with Gestalt? Those "levels" they have aren't that worthy now...

Has anyone come up with a fix?

05-07-04, 02:10 PM Umm, don't use Gesalts?

Gesalts screw up all normal game balance anyway, if you want to introduce them in a game with LA and Racial hitdice as well then you'd probably need to do a fair amount of continous modification and playtesting during the campaign itself, I doubt you can find an effecitive forumla without it.

05-07-04, 02:29 PM ECL +1 could be taken as one of the two classes of a single Gestalt level. Thus, a Tiefling Rogue 1 woudl ocunt as a L.1 Gestalt character. ECL +2 would be the two classes of L.1 (such a character would need to start at L.2 Gestalt)

That could be a rough fix for it, but I have no ideas about Racial HD.
