Higher synergy bonuses? [Archive] - Wizards Community

I was wondering if there would be any significant problems if I granted higher synergy bonuses when the skill ranks get higher.

Basically, since 5 ranks is what's required to get a +2 synergy bonus, would it be out of whack to grant a +3 bonus at 10 ranks, and +4 bonus at 15, and so on?

If so, how bad can it really get?

Apologies if others have already addressed this.

I believe this might actually be standard, since Complete Adventurer. I might be mis-remembering, though. I know the "Aid Another" ability has been improved in this regard (i..e more skill ranks allows you to help more).

Epic rules scale synergy at +2 per 20 ranks beyond 5 (I think). Slow, but that's the only rule written for this. Frankly, I wouldn't have a problem with better synergy scaling.

If its +2 per 20 ranks beyond 5 then one could simply make it +2 with 5 ranks, +3 with 15 ranks, +4 with 25 ranks, etc.

Th's pretty much the take on it I use in my campaign,

I guess I'm a more forgiving DM when it comes to things like this. I grant +2 at 5 ranks, +3 at 10, +4 at 15, and so forth. I like to encourage more skill use in my games.

Yeah, I was thinking this scale would be more reasonable.
