I have this idea called "Revitalized Characters"... it was quite interesting when it all came together, so I figured I would ask what other people would think.

Requirement: Level 20 of any class.

All right, after taking the 20 levels full in the base class, you then have the ability 'somehow' (insert DM's Discretion here) to drop back down to 1st level of a class' choice. Here are the benefits.

+2 bonus to all of your stats.

As an add on to the 'special' table, you also follow your previous class.

For example, if you managed to max 20 levels in Wizard, you can restart as a 1st level Fighter, with a +2 bonus to all of his/her stats, and the ability to cast spells as a 1st level wizard. At 5th level, the Fighter could cast spells as a 5th level Wizard... and so on, and so forth.

One flaw I've just noticed, however, is that I am unsure what would happen if you were to multiclass or take a prestige class. I am sure that can all be in the works some how.

Anyways, what do you guys think?

I've seen this done in a few online RPGs. After you reach the maximum level, you can start over as a newbie, but with a bonus to base attributes or your gain attributes faster as you grow.

Multiclassing should be restricted, or you could make class features into feats.

"DM's Discretion" would be this: in order to facilitate epic play, the scale of the game has been reduced, and your character has completely and utterly mastered his class and needs another "hobby" class. The 20 HD dragon the party fought last time has had all of its stats scaled down to those of a 1 HD dragon.

It seems to give the effect of a gestalt character the second time around. Multiclassing shouldn't be too bad - at level 20, drop down, and start a new path, gaining abilities of your old class. if it was a PrC, so be it.
