I am planning to host a session that has a little touch of the Matrix to it.. and so far the only House Rule that I thought up for this game is that upon a sucessful Wisdom Check (I have no idea of what to use as the opposing check) you can bend certain rules of physics (gravity, force etc.) and you can do it as many time as your Wisdom Modifier (this is what i have put so far) Per Day. (

So far the thing that you can do with this save:
Hit Harder: double damage (it stacks with critical, so i am abit worried about it)
Go Faster: Double Speed
Stop Projectiles: as it says (but should it be able to stop Magic Missles?)

(i still more to think)

so far i only see this beneficial with a PC Monk (he as a pretty decent Wisdom alright), I wonder if there is any way to benefit people other than that monk, but still using Wisdom to determine the outcome (after all.. it takes wisdom to realize that "there is no spoon")

psionics can give you the matrix feel. Just give Hidden Talent to everyone. If someone want's to be really great at it, he'll have to take levels in a psionic class.

UA's version of Action Points might also be very helpful here; have you considered those?

those are all pretty good ideas... but i am looking at things where if you suceed that check... the action you take would be considered "weird" (since my campaign is a low magic, then a person flying would be weird). and the degree of diffrence should be big (that's why it is at least double)

I was thinking of Psyonics.... but i don't have the book (or the money/time to get it) and i want the whole system to be based on wisdom

The psychic warrior manifests powers based off of wisdom. And you can find the rules for psionics in the srd:

Look at Iron Heroes from Malhavoc Press. It's a low magic world, but the characters are over the top for action. It's not exactly the matrix, but when you see what their stunts can do, you may find it to be what you want.

You could also use a variant of the rules for planes with the highly morphic and subjective directional gravity traits--you know, the really crazy ones that respond to sentient thought? That's about dead on for the Matrix if you ask me.

Subjective gravity let's you make a DC 16 wisdom check to change the direction that gravity pulls you in, and you can "fly" by changing the direction of gravity and falling straight up or sideways. You can apply that same principal to every planar trait--Just boost the DC if you don't wan't everyone doing it.

Here's how I'd handle a D&D Matrix:

Make a "Redpill" feat that allows the character access to a new WIS-based skill called "Bend Reality". Let the character make "Bend Reality" checks as a free action to change the effective planar traits with regards to themselves only.

So you'd make a check to change normal gravity to light gravity and get a bonus on jump checks, or change it to subjective directional gravity so you could "fly", or change the time trait to "flowing time: fast" so that you are acting faster than the world around you in order to get that "bullet time" effect.

This is actually a really sweet idea, because it mimicks the matrix pretty much perfectly. Psionics can work, but you never see anyone run out of power points in the movies, so a skill check method seems more accurate.

It also explains why Neo can do so much more than everyone else: Being "The One" must give him a massive bonus to "Bend Reality" checks. :P
