| SageInBlack07-10-06, 01:30 PM | ok. well I am DM'ing a infiltration styled campaign and I wanted some house rule to make this game a bit more exciting (perhaps)... the first thing that came into my friend's mind is this game called Metal Gear Solid... I watched him play that game a bit and it was intresting to see their vision cone .. i remembered something like that in one of the older edition DnD book that I have read.. (too lazy to flip through thou) other than that... I want to have every character's (and enemy's) action in "real time" I was thinking about the Second by Second instead of by character... And money is not very important in this game (because the PC's has to use what ever they have on site, pick up your weapons whatever.) Infact the PC's started this session literally naked (not the players) in the beginning (The border which they infiltrate have magic "survailance" that detects any form of clothing or/and armor) Side note: I have given them clues of how to bypass the survaliance, but I have to say that it was an intresting way to start a session. (the players were mature enough to handle this) Also.. I would like to reward PC's who didn't kill much grunts. if you have any other house rule that can make infiltrations more intresting.. post it... |

Standard actions may have to change too - for instance, in 1 second I cannot run 30 ft and swing a club at an Orc. You'll have to redefine movement for characters - 10 ft. for medium characters, 5 ft. for small maybe? This would seriously hinder small character's speed, but in an infiltration campaign they may have an advantage anyway. My final suggestion is to give every weapon an "initiative modifier" of some sort. For instance, a dagger is a pretty quick weapon, but a broadsword is not. Either give characters wielding larger weapons a penalty to initiative (if you're using initiative, you sounded like you were considering scrapping it all together), or make large weapons work like a recharge ability - you can attack with your broadsword every 3 rounds (you spend the intervening time bringing the momentum of the blade back under your control and repositioning the weapon for your next thrust). This will encourage players to use light weapons (sounds like infiltration to me). You may also want to consider introducing similar penalties for characters carrying massive amounts of gear (a backpack, for instance). Good luck :D |
