| Platonix05-18-06, 10:30 PM | There's a forum for magic and a forum for house-rules...I guess I'll post this on both. In a campaign we're doing, it has become important for the characters to be able to teleport great distances. To this end, they're obtaining the aid of a specialist wizard from the institution they're working for (I'm giving the fellow three levels of Wayfarer Guide and Rule-Zeroing the organization requirement.) A new player wants to join, which makes the specialist wizard's job more difficult...but this new player intends to play something Tiny and winged. I'm thinking of letting the character crawl into someone's backpack, and letting the spell count the player as part of the larger person's equipment; it's easily within the larger person's maximum load. Is this a Bad Thing™? How bad is it to allow this to happen? And are there less rule-smashing ways to let a Tiny person stow away in a teleport like this? I believe I've heard of it being possible with Bags of Holding...is that, or another extradimensional-space-accessing-item, the only way? |

I believe I've heard of it being possible with Bags of Holding...is that, or another extradimensional-space-accessing-item, the only way? I'm sure a normal bag would work. Heck, does it say that you can't choose to bring someone youre just holding onto with in the spell description? retreiving.... You can bring along objects as long as their weight doesn’t exceed your maximum load. You may also bring one additional willing Medium or smaller creature (carrying gear or objects up to its maximum load) or its equivalent (see below) per three caster levels. A Large creature counts as two Medium creatures, a Huge creature counts as two Large creatures, and so forth. All creatures to be transported must be in contact with one another, and at least one of those creatures must be in contact with you. so one creature per three levels. So that's one medium creature, two smalls, four tinys, or (ugh) half a large. I would rule that if it's in an extradimensional pocket it counts as equipment, and the tiny being 1/4 of the load, I would say that he could do it easily. |
