The reason I see is that Barbarians live in an intense environment and are therefore hyper-aware of danger, and therefore, traps. If that IS the case I feel Rangers and definetely Scouts (who, well...scout) should have it. I think the Scout should have it at the very least. Also, as the Ninja Any opinions? |

Barbarians have instincts/ intuitive awareness of danger, hence Trap Sense and Uncanny Dodge. Of the other classes, scouts and rangers are weak, pampered civilized men who have not the savage instincts of the barbarian (at least that's probably what Robert E. Howard would say if he were here). Plus a barbarian is going to have to pay attention to what's going on around him, its not as if they have any thought processes to distract them :) Also note: trap sense gives a bonus on reflex saves, but even so the Barbarian's Ref save is worse than a scout, ninja or ranger since their only good save is Fort. Also scouts have trapfinding as a class feature, so if they know what's good for them should actually be looking for traps. They don't need trap sense as well, it'd make them very similar to rogues. |
