| ibx3310-25-05, 06:49 PM | So this section on reducing level adjustment. My DM said he would accept if I choose to do it with my half-giant barbarian (LA +1) . Now, I was just going to pay as much as the gnoll in the example, but then I saw "racial hit die." I'll be darned, but I've been playing D&D for about 6 or so years, and I don't know what racial hit die means. Later, it just says 2 hit die (in the example) Are those racial hit die, or something else I don't understand? So, would I pay the 5,000 that it talks about in the example, or only 3,000? (LA +1, +3 class levels, - 1) x 1000 as opposed to (LA+1, +3 class levels, +2 hit die, -1) - Gnoll example It won't even matter that much, but I'd like to know. (I'm pretty sure it would be 3000, since I've been looking at that section while typing this) |

Gnolls straight from the MM hve 2HD, so anyone wanting to play a gnoll has 2 racial hit dice in addition to class hit dice. A half-giant does not have racial HD, so you don't have to include that in your calculation. You would pay 3000xp. |
