The basic idea is that the spellcasting character uses spellpoints to cast spells, just as it says in Unearthed Arcana. The character would have a small number of spellpoints (havent figured out how many yet). Then he would recharge his points over time. As an idea, maybe he would have get spellpoints equal his Level * Stat Bonus. Example: 5th level wizard with an INT18 would have 20 spell points. The more I think of it, that may be too many, but that is why I have thrown the idea out. I hope somebody here may give me some good ideas. |

Each caster has a number of mana points equal to (casterlevel)*(casting ability mod)*2. The system has an additional skill called "Meditation" or so that is based on the primary casting ability. Each hour the caster recovers a number of mana points equal to his casting ability mod + his ranks in meditation if he really rests. If he does light activity, he gets half of that, or a quarter of it for heavy activity. After 8h of sleep/complete rest the pool is completely refreshed. Hope that helps. Just my :twocents: _Ra-Tiel. |

It basically says that spellpoints are linked to fatigue, and getting rid of fatigue renews spellpoints. It's a bit overpowered in my opinion, but if the max number of spellpoints were reduced I could see it working. |

Otherwise those last few that cause Exhaustion come back every hour; and you can get 50% of your spel points back with a Lesser Restoration. My second idea, though, was to divorce the spellpoints from the fatigue, and make spell *casting* tiring. You still have spellpoints, but each spell now has a Fort save of DC 10 + spell level, or suffer Fatigue for 1 round per spell level (no fatigue from cantrips, or you wouldn't have "graduated" from apprenticehood). if you get fatigued while fatigued, you are exhausted for 1 *minute* per spell level; fatigue + exhausted = unconscious for 10 minutes. |

Someting that takes place in a number of rounds, or such. Maybe the character gets his level + casting ability mod as a total for fully charged. That would be a little more than normal for first levels, but you would have to do some planning at higher levels as to what you cast & when. Give Sorcerers a faster rcharge rate than wizards & such. The idea may not be workable, but it is something I've been toying around with. srkingdavy, I really dont like the mechanic of the fatigue magic system. I understand the idea, but something in those rules, that I cant put a finger on right now, just doesnt sit well with me. |
