Wood elves. Scottish warrior poets. A little "touched" as well. Favored Classes: barbarian (minus illiteracy) or bard (with proficiencies in all non-exotic weapons).

Gray elves. Welsh crafters and master musicians. Racial bonuses to bardic music. Favored Classes: artificer or bard.

High elves. Irish and philosophical in nature, both in religion and natural philosophy (physical science). Favored Classes: druid (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=920588) or wizard.

Dwarves. Germanic in culture, scientific (not enough to warrant an Intelligence bonus) and militaristic. Favored Classes: berserker (barbarian minus illiteracy, trap sense and non-Lawful restriction) or artificer.

Gnomes. Swiss style confederation and society. Known for their great illusionists, engineers, cheese makers and chocolatiers, snipers and mercenaries. Favored Classes: artificer, wizard or scout.

I would also change favored class into something like constant gestalt class. You can take any other class you want in the future and gestalt your favored class with it. Any other ideas or suggestions?

Are there any other help or ideas for me? I already worked on the high elves.

In my campaign, the Grey elves gain favored class swashbuckler (think about it), and wood elves gain scout.

I wouldn't add any of the original base classes. If you add a favored class or change the existing one, use an alternative base class.

First I used a homebrewed druid class that all but iliminates wild shape and animal companion. Second you can only take one of your race's favored class as your own. Third, would you please explain what you meant exactly?

What I meant: Leave the standard races alone. They were put there as they are for a reason. If you want to toy with the favored class of the subraces such as the grey, wild, or wood elf, replace it with a class not in the Player's Handbook, even if it's a homebrewed version.

Homebrews, and I have a few of my own that have been rather successful (and some that haven't), should replace the original class, but for player simplicity don't change anymore than you have to. If druids no longer wildshape or have an animal companion (two reasons that I don't use them), they should still be druids for all other purposes of the game.

What I am saying is that all of the dwarven, elven and gnomish subraces were published with the classes from the Player's Handbook in mind, but can anything but the Human and Half-Elf use any of the countless other base classes as a favored class? NO! So if you want to give a grey elf a new favored class, don't give it bard (hate bards to), artificer works... I chose Swashbuckler because the grey elves have bonuses for Dex & Int, exactly what a swash needs. Wood elves... bards & barbarians? A barbarian maybe. They have favored class Ranger, Scout is a similar class so in my oppinion it works.

I appologize for being so oppinionated on this, I have gone through so many house rules in the 5 years that our groups been together that I have at least some sense of what will work for the players and what might get them to scratch their heads and ask "why change it?"

So I'll replace bard with scout for wood elves and bard with swashbuckler for gray elves. Also only one of the character's racial classes can count as his or her own. That particular favored class cannot be changed and must be chosing at the start.

My gnomes are not very creative... They are much klike they are now, with morer seriousness and less pranksters. But I ahd tried a new angle... I used as a model for them ancient middle eastern and african cultures - the ancient peoples of the levant and the berbers/kabyles. They lives in hilly rangers, working hard the mines and farming marvellous near the catfolk lands.

I have returned them to Wizard, for a more intellectual outlook, a fascination of the knowleges. Or maybe Cleric, for a religious edge - still a bit undecided.
